El Rey is the best Mexican restaurant around. Their queso is amazing and creamy and all of their dishes are beautiful, flavorful, and well-portioned. Definitely a step above the quality and presentation of other local Mexican restaurants. And they have great specials to make it even more affordable!! Staff is friendly and helpful. We find ourselves disappointed more often than not when dining out these days, with quality going downhill while prices go up, but that is not the case at El Rey. We’ll continue to come back!
Great selection and the food was very good. Staff was kind and patient. They have at least three salsas, a Fresca, Smoky Chipotle, and tomatillo -- all yummy. A white queso which was mild and delicious. The kids loved it and it was tasty on everything. Even the refried beans were worth mentioning. Prices were fair. We will be back. :)
What a fabulous meal! We shared the steak nachos and had a Pinapple Aqua Fresca. Service was over the top and staff was incredible. I highly recommend this Mexican Place
On our way home from the airport and looked for something good to eat. El Rey had a 4.7, so I had to try it out. Made it before 5pm, which was within their happy hour of 2-5. Got margaritas at $2.99 and some queso at half price. Both were really good. I ordered the camarones ajillo, and my husband had the burrito with carne asada. He got his meal a couple of minutes before me and gave me a bit. I'm telling you the best seasoned steak I've had at a Mexican restaurant around here. The grilled shrimp i had was really good but could have used a bit more seasoning but still amazing. I think what I really enjoyed was the chips and salsa as they gave you a trio of salsa, which i feel is good for those who have different tastes. All 3 were good, but the hot could have been a bit hotter for me. The service was great, and he answered all of the questions and made suggestions. Definitely will be back.
Overall, we liked it. We had choriqueso, fajitas, and breakfast Enchiladas. I was disappointed that the ratings were so high because they don't have fresh flour tortillas. The salsas were a hit and miss. One red was not good (sour citrusy?), the other red was slightly smoky but still was just "ok". The salsa Verde faired a little better as the winner of the three. But the choriqueso with chips was good, so it's not a big deal. My entree was great: breakfast Enchiladas - 3 chicken Enchiladas with salsa Verde, 2 eggs on top, and pico de gallo. This is where the salsa Verde came back for final redemption because the hot Comal my food was served on kept the salsa really warm, which brought out the flavors of the ingredients. I loved it. Additionally, we ordered a margarita and a daiquiri - the margarita was good, but the daiquiri was watery, which sometimes happens with frozen drinks; I hope someone fixes the machine. I would like to try a few more entrees, and I would love a great daiquiri. I'll be back sometime soon.
Went to El Rey Bar and Grill and was so impressed! Got the taco sampler (so delish), and they gave me a free Jarritos and fried bread just to try- the nicest! Everyone was super friendly. Definitely going back!
The service was great and we tipped accordingly. You got a generous amount of food. The problem was it has no flavor I don't even think they put seasoning on it. The meat was cut into little worm size pieces the place was packed so people must like it. It was extremely noisy. The pictures look fantastic. It was just lacking flavor.
